Why Buy a House

In this market? Absolutely.

Homeownership can seem like a daunting goal. But it’s not unattainable and there are many reasons it’s worth pursuing. In honor of #NationalHomeOwnershipMonth we’re diving into a few those reasons…

When you own your own home, you can have a great amount of increased privacy for you and your family to live in. No upstairs apartment neighbors or landlords to worry about! With less noise and distraction, you can spend your time relaxing and spending time in the place that you love. You get to manage your mortgage and your home, nobody else. Talk about independence!

Homeownership adds a sense of security. Whether it’s through an alarm system or personal finances, your home is a secure place to be. According to a 2016 report by the National Association of Realtors, “homeowners are far less likely to become crime victims.” Owning a home also increases your stability, as only 5% of homeowners moved whereas 25% of renters moved in a given year according to that same 2016 report.

There’s a sense of pride that comes with being able to call a home your own. Ownership of a house is a part of the American dream. When you own your own home, you can do whatever you like with the space- put in a new countertop or patio or turn your garage into an art studio. That freedom goes hand-in-hand with the sense of community one may feel while being in a more established, consistent neighborhood .

With a home comes the beauty of a yard. Whether your kids play around with their friends in the front yard or you chase your dog around the backyard, the additional outdoor space can be an added benefit of owning your own home! With the ability to garden, landscape, and play sports, it could never make you want to return to rental life again! And don’t even get us started on the indoor space you can have….workout rooms and play rooms and bedrooms for each kid, oh my!
